Apple's macOS High Sierra: faster Safari and a new file system
As usual, senior VP of software engineering Craig Federighi is onstage detailing the latest features that Apple will bring to macOS High Sierra when it launches. The first update is for Safari, with Federighi claiming that Safari tops all desktop browsers in speed: He even went as far as to say it's the world's fastest desktop browser. A Modern Javascript test claims the new Safari is 80 percent faster than Chrome. The browser also features autoplay blocking: It detects sites that shouldn't be playing video and pauses them. Safari also will deal with the various trackers that follow us around the internet with a feature called Intelligent Tracking Prevention. It uses machine learning to look for cross-site trackers and "segregates" them so that they can't keep tracking you.
How To Use Siri On Your Laptop In MacOS Sierra
Here's our guide on how to use Siri for the MacBook series in macOS Sierra version 10.12. Apple's voice-activated virtual assistant Siri got a boost in iOS 10, but it doesn't stop there. After updating your Mac to the latest version of the new operating system, macOS Sierra, Siri appears automatically on your home dock. You can remove it from the dock if you want, but Siri is fun to use and can actually help you out. To get Siri to pop up, all you have to do is click the icon on the dock.

7 tips for getting the most out of macOS Sierra
Apple released its new Mac operating system, Sierra, earlier this week, which is available to all Mac users as a free download through Apple's Mac App Store. The update notably adds Siri to the Mac and also many of the features from iOS 10, including enriched messages. That's a new name change from Apple, but loyal Mac users will find everything pretty familiar. Sierra is a big update, and there are lots of little things that you may not necessarily find on your own, hiding just below the surface. Here are a handful to help you get the most of the update.
How Siri works on a Mac: Sierra OS review
NEW YORK--Only a few years ago, the launch of a new computer operating system set off impassioned clashes between devotees of the Mac and supporters of Windows. Tuesday's arrival of macOS Sierra seems like an after-thought by comparison, coming with nowhere near the media attention that's paid to an iPhone or even iOS release. The marquee feature is Siri's debut on the Mac, and while this is mainly a welcome development, the fact is we all got to know Apple's loquacious personal assistant on the phone first. Indeed, with Sierra comes further evidence that we're fully entrenched in a post-PC world, where the computers in our pockets have trumped those on our desks. Microsoft with Windows 10 has for the most part designed a single operating system that is meant to work across PCs, phones, tablets, even Xboxes.
Siri on the Mac's new Sierra OS: so-so

Tuesday's arrival of macOS Sierra seems like an after-thought by comparison, coming with nowhere near the media attention that's paid to an iPhone or even iOS release. The marquee feature is Siri's debut on the Mac, and while this is mainly a welcome if long overdue development, the fact is we all got to know Apple's loquacious personal assistant on the phone first. Apple's macOS Sierra is now available for download
If you skipped the beta releases, today's the day you can put Siri to work on a Mac. Apple's latest desktop operating system, macOS Sierra, is now available for download. While the new version debuted back at WWDC and followed with a public beta, this is the first time the finished product will be available to the masses via the App Store on a Mac. In addition to the aforementioned virtual assistant hitting the desktop, the free update includes features like a universal clipboard, revamped Messages, a storage optimization tool, Apple Pay on the web and more tabs... lots of tabs. macOS Sierra: Configuring Siri - The Mac Observer
As you may know, macOS Sierra (finally) brings Siri, Apple's voice assistant, to the Mac! Clicking either of those will play the familiar "I'm listening" beeps that you'll recognize from iOS, and you can then ask all sorts of questions, just like on your mobile devices. If you're feeling fancy, you can even ask macOS Sierra Siri about stuff on your computer, such as "find files created in the last five days," or even "find emails from Melissa Holt." You should know, though, that you can configure some things about how Siri works, and those options are available under System Preferences Siri. Within that pane, there are choices for which macOS Sierra Siri voice to use, the input source, and even a checkbox for whether to show Siri in the menu bar at all. What I find most interesting, though, is the "Keyboard Shortcut" drop-down.
Apple Announces Release Date For macOS Sierra; Golden Master Version Now Available To Developers
Apple has announced that macOS Sierra, the next iteration of OS X for Mac computers, will be released to everyone for free on Sept. 20. The tech giant has also released the golden master (GM) version of the software to developers on Wednesday. The GM version of macOS Sierra is the final beta or test version of the new operating system before the final and stable version of the software is released publicly. That being said, the GM version of macOS Sierra comes with most (if not all) of the new features that's expected to be available on the operating system and this will be the last time that developers will be able to test it out. The GM software is now available to download from the Mac App Store, according to 9To5Mac.
Apple Releases macOS Sierra Beta 7 To Clean Up Serious Bugs, Performance Issues Ahead Of October Release
Just three days after releasing iOS 10 beta 7, Apple is rolling its equivalent beta for macOS Sierra this Monday. The new Mac OS beta is the seventh version for developers and the sixth version for public beta testers. According to Apple Insider, there are still no specific details about what macOS Sierra beta 7 brings, but it is expected to clean up serious bugs and performance issues found in the previous betas to polish the new operating system ahead of its launch sometime this fall. Based on the previous betas, macOS Sierra is going to introduce new features to Apple's Mac devices. First and foremost, the new OS is going to bring the Cupertino firm's intelligent assistant for the iPhones and the iPad tablets, Siri, to Macs.
